One of the laws of success is embedded with the idea of having a winning inner circle because a leader’s success and greatness comes from those who are closest to him. Accomplishing goals as a leader isn’t always easy, but an intentionally chosen inner circle who believes in you and in your direction, can help you achieve remarkable results. Leaders can only grow as far as the leadership capacity of their inner circle. Therefore, to perform consistently at high-levels an inner circle with a growth mindset is a must for any organization.
It has been said that we are the summation of the five people with whom we spend the most time. Our question to you is, “Are you intentional about whom you are choosing to invest your time with?” Time is precious, and as we become busier and busier, sometimes we fail to be intentional.
An effective leader grows in his/her potential through the ability to influence others, and this inner circle of influential people holds the key to a leader’s success. This influence is built through a constant focus on being strategic, and planning one’s growth. It becomes somewhat of a strategic plan for one’s leadership growth. The focus of the inner circle should be on Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats, and their purpose should be to assist the leader with maximizing their overall growth as an influencer.
This type of collaboration creates a climate in which the leader is consistently reflecting on key areas of growth which will allow them to become all that they have been designed to be. However, this growth cannot occur without an intentionally chosen inner circle with whom deep trust has been achieved.
- Be intentional about choosing an inner circle
- Develop trust
- Consistently conduct a SWOT analysis on yourself as a leader
- Look for ways to grow
